What becomes possible when you stop accepting where you are told you belong? In 1996, Nickey Seger made history by becoming South Africa’s first female Navy diver. But this isn’t a story about making history. It’s a story about what happens when someone tells you: “This isn’t for women.”

What becomes possible when your word means something? A promise is easy to make when keeping it is easy. The real test comes when it isn’t. Nickey’s promise to a young girl named Nellie ultimately became an extraordinary challenge: 14 half-marathons in 14 consecutive days. This is a story of what becomes possible when you place unshakable value on Integrity.
PURPOSE
What changes when the challenge stops being about you? Again and again, Nickey has discovered that she can go further when there is someone waiting on the other side of the finish line. Purpose doesn’t make difficult things easy; it makes difficult things worth doing.

THE CAMINO FOR AVRIL ELIZABETH HOME
Nickey is currently walking the Camino de Santiago with Tumi the Travelling Teddy, taking every step in support of Avril Elizabeth Home and its much-needed hydrotherapy facilities.
Over 42 days and more than 900 kilometres, the journey is raising awareness and funds to support mobility, comfort, rehabilitation and quality of life for the Home’s residents.
Every step matters and carries a purpose bigger than the distance itself.
